Yellowstone!!!

Posted by Jess on 5:10 PM
Hi Everyone!

How are you? Good I do hope! We are now in Idaho after spending four amazing days exploring Yellowstone National Park. I must admit going into the park I was a bit skeptical and thought perhaps it was all hype, but I am happy to admit that for me it was totally worth it. I found the scenery in the park stunning, and despite it being the peak season, on several occasions we found ourselves the only people in a giant field etc.

We spent two nights by Old Faithful, an old geyser that erupts around every 90 minutes, and then the other two nights over on the other side of the park. We saw both grizzly and black bears, bison, elk, pronghorns, big horned sheep, whistle pigs, a bald eagle and some others i can't think of right now. We went on a cookout in this spectacular valley which was most tasty!

We went on a bit of a hike and found a bison sitting on our path so then had to walk the long way around to avoid making him angry! Dad went fishing at the lake we hiked too and caught a fish which made him very happy.

That's all I have time to update you with for the moment, we are back in Idaho and everyone is waiting on me to get ready so we can go find some dinner. I have put some pictures below, I am limited in what i can choose from - but I do hope you enjoy what I have to show you!

I do hope everything is well with you all,
Lots of love
Jess

The pictures are great, I can't wait to see the rest! It certainly looks like everyone had a lovely time. Tell your dad that I'm glad he caught a fish-- a successful trip. And you saw a bear, and it ended up okay. I can't resist giving you a mostly useless fact-- the bacteria in those geysers are the source of some enzymes that make modern medicine/ genetics possible. So they are a double treasure. I can't wait to hear about potatoes...

Whistle Pig on the Left: "Who is this strange creature with a metal square that flashes and pointing it at us?'

Whistle Pig on the Right: "Not sure but try not to look at her, she's at least a hundred feet taller than us"

Obviously what was going through their minds when you took that picture. Hehe. Sounds like you are having great fun!

whistle pig? im too lazy to look it up, but is that the real name or aussie slang?
i can only imagine your dad's face at catching that fish, let alone the opportunity of fishing! did he take his own stuff out there or did he rent?
meisha's hair color is nice lol

gahhhh youre such a wonderful fancy photographer! make a calendar!

Whistle pig is an Appalachian term for ground hog/ woodchuck. (I could chuck a lot of wood if I were, in fact, a woodchuck, instead of the people kind of Chuck).

gorgeous photos, jessie!
it's awesome that you could get so close to the animals. XOXO wjie
