Governors Island
Governors Island is a small island not far from Manhattan
that use to be used by the Defense force and then the Coast Guard.
It was sold to New York City for $1 in 2003!
It was abandoned in 1996 and recently opened to the public
as some sort of national trust space, a lot of it is still very neglected
and you cannot enter many of the buildings, but they have cleared
bike paths around the island and what not! SO Mum, Dad and I
caught the train into the city, the subway to battery park and then
the ferry across to the island and had a good look around!
It was a nice ride around the island, from one side you had a
great view of the statue of liberty, and the other side lower
manhattan (wall street) area. There are replica canons in the old
fort, a prison and lots of houses and the like!

Mum being the statue of liberty! The actual statue is really small in the back of the photo.

Me on my bike, I smacked my leg on the tray and that back and now have a STUNNING bruise on my leg! Silly me...

Dad and a canon (see the buildings of Manhattan in the background?)

The prison - i decided this is where the Zombies lived...it was creepy!

Paterson Falls
On Saturday we took Diana and went on an adventure to a town not far from us that use to be a thriving area, with several mills, electric generators, a silk factory and an assortment of other factories. Unfortunately it is no longer such a thriving area, but they do still have this waterfall in the middle of it!
